I did not originally plan to work in piping. I was drawn to the fact that skilled trades like piping and welding will continue to matter even as AI transforms office work. Semiconductor piping also requires millimeter-level precision, making it difficult to automate fully. I am not a piping technician, but working in corporate operations alongside these specialists gave me a stable career path in the AI era.

The compensation. I had offers from construction, banking, and IT companies, so I could compare them directly. I did not expect pay in semiconductor construction to be this competitive. In my experience, the overall package was roughly 25–30% higher.

The annual performance bonus shows me that employees share in the company’s success. Before joining BAEKSAN, I worked in construction, banking, IT, and health care. I received bonuses there too, but they were about one-third of what I receive now. Other employers offered perks such as in-house cafés, but I personally value strong financial recognition more.

At my previous job, repetitive work sometimes made me feel stuck in a routine and worried about falling behind. I start with the day’s construction schedule, staffing, material readiness, and the hazards and controls in each work area. In gas piping, one missed item can delay every activity that follows. My day begins by making sure all those moving parts are headed in the same direction.

No. We follow the work from fabrication through installation and formal inspection. At each stage, we verify the requirements and maintain the records the inspector will need. The goal is to prevent issues and build a clear, trustworthy record of the finished work.

We handle new-hire, task-specific, and recurring safety training, risk assessments, site inspections, personal protective equipment (PPE), and required safety documentation. The key is to see the work firsthand, identify hazards, and address them before the crew starts.

We cover the week’s inspection focus, unsafe or impractical site conditions, and concerns employees have raised. It is not just a list of announcements. We use it to decide what needs extra attention during the morning and afternoon inspections.

CAD drawings and bills of materials from the 3D model need to match what was actually installed before we can calculate an accurate amount. We check drawing submissions, revisions, and the tracking number for each drawing request so every figure can be traced back to the work.

We prepare fabrication data for bulk-gas piping installed in cleanrooms. We import the 5DX files we receive into our in-house 3D Pipe Editor and update them with measurements taken at the jobsite. Before fabrication begins, we make sure the model matches the verified site conditions.

Not necessarily. Internal surfaces are harder to inspect because you cannot see them directly. We use borescopes and welding inspection mirrors to check the inside, then inspect welds, dimensions, and bends on the outside. Reading the drawing matters, but so does the instinct to question what is hidden from view.

Yes. If a needed item is not ready, the task that depends on it—and every downstream activity—can be affected. The role is not just about moving materials. It keeps the jobsite moving by getting the right item to the right place at exactly the right time.

I track schedules and progress by work area and coordinate drawings, materials, crew assignments, safety, and quality requirements. With so many activities happening at once, I need to understand the full construction sequence and have the next stage ready before crews reach it.

Once a contract is awarded, we review its terms and our obligations. Then we arrange nearby housing, office space, furniture, and communications, and set up onboarding, timekeeping, and payroll for incoming crews. From the site office, I make sure the people, funding, and materials are ready when the project needs them.

Very well, because the numbers originate on the jobsite. From project launch through completion, we manage costs, revenue, schedules, trade partners, and coordination across internal teams for piping projects for semiconductor, display, and biotech facilities. A spreadsheet alone cannot explain why a figure changed, so the work begins by listening to the people closest to the jobsite.

Usually when something affects daily life directly: payroll, Korea’s mandatory social insurance programs, year-end income tax reconciliation, or paid leave.
